Expectations
Before the experience, what did you think would happen?
I expected it to be a lot of work and planning. I thought I would go to every class so I could learn more details and I could prepare for the seminar. I hoped to teach certain subjects and assist peoples as needed. I also hoped to gain new understandings of teaching styles. What did you expect to gain from an educational stand-point? I hoped I would learn a lot about teaching and instructing. I also thought I would learn about being an authority figure and how to take responsibility. I thought I could also learn how to better speak and teach in front of a group of people. What new knowledge did you hope to gain from this experience? I thought I would learn many new things from this experience. I hoped to learn not only more knowledge about Gongkwon Yusul but also about leadership positions and instructing. What new relationships did you gain from this experience? I was able to meet many new people from this experience. I got to meet Master Rick and his son, Justin from another studio. They taught me a lot about how to teach people, younger and older. Gongkwon Yusul is not as common as other martial arts, so getting to collaborate with someone else is very special. I also got to work with people I already knew, in a new way. I got to instruct people who were normally my peers and learn the difference from being a friend to someone and being their teacher. How did you think you would benefit from your involvement? I thought I would learn many new things about myself and teaching. I hoped to learn to be more helpful in teaching, instructing, and demonstrating. I also wished to learn more about the other students and how best to teach them. |
